Walter Talmadge Matthews died on Wednesday, August 15, 2001. He was a native of Texas and resided in Richmond for the past three years. He was employed by the Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond as a systems programmer. He is survived by his wife, Laura A. Matthews; his daughters, Elizabeth Ann and Valerie Suzanne; his son, Jared Talmadge; his parents, Frank and Bettie Matthews of Duncan, Okla.; and his brothers, Wayne Matthews of Canyon, Texas and Tim Matthews of Sevierville, Tenn. Memorial services were held at the Woodlake United Methodist Church. Memorial contributions may be made to the Save the Manatee Club, 500 N. Maitland Ave., Maitland, Fla. 32751.
