Life Story for Pamela Kay Rickard

Pamela K. Rickard, age 64, passed away on Friday, June 7, 2019 at Arlington Memorial Hospital in Arlington, Texas.

Pamela was born August 1, 1954 in Amarillo, Texas to Ray and Barbara (Barber) Polk. She graduated from Tascosa High School in 1972 and she graduated from TCU in 1995 with a Bachelors in Nursing; her adult life was full of colorful quilts, laughter, caring for others, and abundant love.

Pamela became a nurse in 1995. She was known as a mentor, educator and leader in her field. In 2016, she was nominated by Kindred Mansfield for DFW Hospital Council Employee of the year. In 2018, she was accepted into Kindred’s Clinical Specialty Program. She was dedicated to her patients, and always had your back. As a co-worker and friend, Pam was our hero. Being around Pamela meant immediately feeling at ease, smiling, and laughing until your sides ached. She met each challenge in life with determination and fighting spirit.

Pamela was a loving mother and grandmother. Her greatest joy was her grandchildren who fondly called her “Texas Grandma”. She immensely enjoyed gardening, traveling, quilting with her friends, and gathering her family and friends. Her happiest moments occurred when her entire family was all in the same room. Whether you were a loved one or complete stranger, spending time with her meant you were part of the family.

She is survived by her mother Barbara Polk; daughter Andrea Graham and husband, Douglas and their daughter Abigail; son Jonathan Rickard and wife, Tanya and their children Megan, Jordan, Sam, Isaac, Jacob; daughter Miranda Sneed and husband, Ethan and their daughter Audreya; brother, Don Polk and wife, Crystal; sister, Marketta Flowers and husband, Douglas; brother, Irven Polk and wife, Jennifer; and many nieces and nephews. Pamela was preceded in death by her father, Ray Polk, and brother, Leslie Polk.
