Some things maybe you didn't know about Wendy Hargis:
She loved and rescued homeless animals ❤ She loved Elizabeth Taylor, the actress, and it thrilled her to play dress ups with her niece and even become Elizabeth Taylor ❤ She went to AC and attended classes studying Home Economics ❤ she was a fun aunt with her nieces and nephew ❤ She married a THS classmate named Mike Foster but was only married for 11 years 🎶 She loved the Beatles 💞 it wasn't always easy being a twin to Ginger but they were the best of friends until the end 💙
To those of us who remember "the twins" they were the cutest sweetest sisters, still dressed alike even in high school, maybe the dresses were different colors, but they dressed alike. Ginger has a tattoo on her arm that says "Pettit" a remembrance of a Caprock Longhorn she loved but never got to marry. Ginger was tickled to see those who came to honor Wendy, the more conversation, the more comfortable she became.  Kim Ford reached out and invited her to our summer cookout. Maybe she will come, maybe, but probably not. I had not seen Ginger or Wendy since high school but seems there is always a connection to those who grow up in the same neighborhood. She told me she still has her Olsen Park Elementary group photos in a photo album at her house. She smiled when I told her a group of us returned to the school last September, walked the hallways....and had our group picture taken again...together on the stage in the cafeteria. Ginger was very honest about life, struggles, illness, good times, bad times. The preacher at the memorial service said, "Wendy was a Tascosa Rebel but I don't think she was 'rebellious' at all." But she was and is a Tascosa Rebel of 1972. The service ended with "Here Comes the Sun" by George Harrison. It was perfect. RIP Wendy, hope we see you again Ginger.  JC Sowers III will you add Wendy Hargis as #105 to our list of deceased classmates. Too many gone too soon.  Suzy Whisenhunt
