Richard Dean Sherrod passed away on September 16, 2023, just a few days after his 71st birthday. He was born September 14, 1952 at High Plains Baptist Hospital in Amarillo, Texas to Robert & Wilma Sherrod. Richard D Sherrod grew up and lived in Amarillo until he moved to Justin, Texas in November, 2019 to be near his sons Seth & Holt Sherrod and their families. 

Richard worked at the Thomas E. Creek VA Medical Center in Amarillo for 39 years as a respiratory therapist. On June 25,1983 he married Linda Baum. Richard was totally devoted to Linda for 38 years. When he retired, he was passionate about being a volunteer firefighter with the Village of Palisades Volunteer Fire Department in Amarillo, TX. Richard loved hunting, fishing, traveling, watching sports and especially his family. He will be truly missed by both his family and friends. 

Richard is preceded in death by his parents, wife Linda Sherrod and 2 great grandchildren.

He is survived by two sons R. Seth Sherrod & Holt Sherrod, one daughter, Judith Ann White-Allen, 5 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, his brothers Monte Sherrod of Abilene, TX & Robert Sherrod, of Estes Park, CO.

A visitation for Richard will be held Thursday, September 21, 2023 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Griggs Schooler Gordon Funeral Directors, 5400 Bell St, Texas 79109. A funeral service will occur Friday, September 22, 2023 at 10:00 AM at Griggs Schooler Gordon Funeral Directors.
