James Randal McNeeley “JR”, 69, passed away on January 21, 2024 in Moore, Oklahoma. 

Born in Oklahoma City at Capitol Hill General Hospital, he was the son of Catherine Payne and Walt Trammel and had a long career as a Criminal Defense Attorney and pro bono legal adviser, having practiced in both Oklahoma and Texas. 

JR also served as a Sargent in the Air Force during the Vietnam war, devoting his service to training in the Canine Unit.

He is survived by his adult children, Kristofer Justin McNeeley of Los Angeles, CA, Lindsay Marie McNeeley of Moore, OK and Temperance Ann McFarland of Gardner, KS.

A fiercely patriotic and Christian man, JR also devoted much of his life to rescuing and raising animals of all kinds as well as using his law practice to serve and help those without the financial means or knowledge to navigate the legal system. 

There will be a graveside service at Ft. Sill National Cemetery on Monday, January 29 at 1pm, where he will be buried with full military honors. The viewing and visitation will be held Friday, 1/26, from 12pm-4pm at the Advantage Funeral Home located at 7720 S. Pennsylvania Avenue in Oklahoma City.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Oklahoma Department of Veterans Affairs.
